Kanye West and the designer label Balenciaga have reportedly parted ways

According to a news report, Ye, the rapper formerly known as Kanye West, and the Balenciaga design business have severed their relationship

The action was taken in response to various inappropriate remarks made by Ye, including posts that were antisemitic and resulted in his suspension from Twitter and Instagram.

In answer to a question from Women's Wear Daily on Friday, parent firm Kering stated without more explanation that "Balenciaga has no longer any affiliation nor any plans for future initiatives associated to this artist."

The business ignored repeated emails and phone calls from The Associated Press seeking a comment. A request for comment from a Ye spokesman also went unanswered.

Ye had worked with Demna Gvasalia, Balenciaga's artistic director, on a number of projects. Ye's ex-wife Kim Kardashian, who has participated in their commercial campaigns and thanks her ex-husband for introducing her to the company, has also maintained a close relationship with the label.

Ye's ability to post on Twitter and Instagram was recently suspended due to anti-Semitic messages that the social media platforms claimed were against their rules. He has also declared the COVID-19 vaccination to be the "mark of the beast," and he has implied that slavery was a decision.

He's been asked to purchase the right-wing-friendly social network Parler after being banned from the major social media networks.

The rapper participated in a runway walk for Balenciaga's ready-to-wear collection during Paris Fashion Week, which designer Demna Gvasalia dubbed a "iconic moment" at the time. He was later spotted at Givenchy's collection sporting a black brace with the Balenciaga logo.

Ye received backlash that same week for donning a "White Lives Matter" T-shirt to his Yeezy collection runway show in Paris. The garment was even visible on the catwalk. White Lives Matter is a neo-Nazi organization, according to the Southern Poverty Law Center, which keeps track of hate groups.

In recent weeks, Ye has severed Yeezy's links to Gap and revealed to Bloomberg that he intends to sever relations with his business partners. Adidas has put Ye's footwear partnership under review, and Ye and JPMorganChase are no longer doing business together, albeit the banking split was already planned before Ye made his anti-Semitic remarks.
