In a shooting at a school in south St. Louis, three people died, including the suspect.

Authorities said a shooter killed a teenage girl and an adult woman at Central Visual and Performing Arts High School in St. Louis, Missouri, on Monday morning.

The St. Louis Public School District and St. Louis police both claim that the shooter "was soon halted by police," that there was a firefight, and that the suspect also lost his life.

According to authorities, the suspect seemed to be around 20 years old.

According to authorities, the shooting was reported at around 9:10 a.m. local time. Police claimed that as the pupils left the building, they reported seeing a man with a long pistol.

According to authorities, a number of the victims were hospitalized with wounds from gunshots and shrapnel.

"The scene is secure and there is no active threat," according to the police.

Although police emphasized that the school's doors were closed, authorities did not specify how the shooter entered the structure.
